Chemical Reactions

The mechanism of both genetic engineering and artificial gene synthesis is chemical reactions... and chemical reactions are unique to an entity as the elements work perfectly in sync to result in that which they form. Scientists can manipulate naturally occurring chemical reactions by either inserting or removing elements because any alteration in the sequence/arrangement will result in a change in the entity.

And we can induce these processes by taking already formed particles and combining them in a 'specific' sequence to result in a product...

But these must then be inserted into a living cell (host)

And this is terrible because it's not natural and it's introducing disease into the community. Some genetically engineered pharmaceuticals can be beneficial but the application has been taken to the extreme and there are many foods that are less safe now because of it.

Bacterial genomes are much smaller than those of a human and scientists already have a considerable amount of trouble trying to computer simulate or mimic the formation of these nucleotides even with their simplistic structure and there are often many mutations or errors with this resulting in numerous defects.

....

It is important to note that non living atoms cannot result in the formation of a living entity on their own.

They must be manipulated into a specific sequence (that matches the natural sequence) and then placed into a living entity in order to function within the entity.

A lot of people dont really understand the mechanism for genetic engineering/artificial gene synthesis and in addition some scientists can be misleading or give themselves too much credit...

And people less familiar with science may not understand that the entity that they "created" was already a living bacterial cell and all they did was simply insert a sequence of nucleotides (which they mimicked from another natural sequence which already occurred in nature or that they directly took from the cells of another living thing) into the already living cell which then allowed the inserted molecules to function.

So we are not forming a new entity with these techniques but rather we are merely inserting molecules into the already formed being.

When you read that first article.. if you do... note the last few paragraphs in the article in which it states that researchers did not actually 'create' a living cell from scratch.. rather they inserted a sequence of nucleotides into the already living cell.

In other words, it is impossible to do this with the human genome.
